What is the name of your state? New Jersey

I have been elected as president of a nonprofit parents club for athletic team at a high school. Past president refuses to hand over all records for the club. School administrator got involved and past president refuses to hand over all records to him and has said that we are being ridiculous by still asking for them. We are all baffled by this. What is left for us to do? We have absolutely nothing to go on for budgets, vendors, who was paid, what money was spent on, etc.

Find an attorney (perhaps a parent?) who will be willing to write a nasty letter to the woman threatening legal action if these records are not turned over. Unless there is something more to this, all records of club activities and finances will generally belong to the organization and its elected representatives.

You might also consider contacting the police to see if this might constitute theft or embezzlement in your state.

Would there be any circumstances in which past president did not have to hand over records? Since the beginning of the Parents Club, it has always been handed over.

Q: Would there be any circumstances in which past president did not have to hand over records?

A: My very limited experience in this universe is that something can always happen and usually does.
