my girlfriend was just charged with assualt to her father the police officer said that if her father wanted press charges he could but if he doesnt how long will the charges be pending.

if the dad said he didn't what to press charges the state will pick up the case. if the dad had no broken bone or teeth it would take about 3 to 5 months. but if he has broken bones or teeth ect. it is a 2nd degree fenoly
