Wow!! You make it sound like you spent exhaustive HOURS researching this for the OP. When all you really did was google it... as you did on another expungement post about Connecticut earlier today (so even less 'ordeal' on this post). Your 'research' came directly from the following website:
http://www.uslegalforms.com/lawdigest/expungement-criminal-records-law.php/NV/NV-EXP.htm

And of course, NONE of that will apply if the OP gets a DA from the court. As noted in my earlier post, his attorney is able to negotiate a DA (and given the minor seriousness of the charge, that is likely), the issue of expungement will never arise.... as the charge will be dismissed upon the OP's successful completion of the terms as set by the court.
Nah, I just posted so that OP would have the info and not be suprised later thinking NV has expungement and that it is not as simple as going away. How ever it works out, OP needs to know how it will affect their future applications and background checks, if they have to make an application before the record is sealed they will still have to answer honestly and that will never be removed. I have seen juvenile offenses held against doctors many years later. Whatever happens it will be the most expensive jar of gel they never used!

Connecticut expungement? Not me, someone else.

Seriously though.

SeniorJudge, are you saying that I shouldn't get a lawyer for this minor of a charger? I talked to a lawyer that gave me the astronomical fee of $3500 for simply getting a 'deferred adjudication', or whatever the proper term is.

Is this some kind of paperwork or request that I could make myself?

Thanks for your help, all of you.

Skizzle, didn't you read my post? Please re-read your question and then re-read my answer.

Unless they have a special program for wayward pre-med students, YOU need an attorney, a criminal defense attorney. I told you that it would be the most expensive bottle of gel you never used.

...but my hair never looked so good...

AND IT WAS POMADE!

Alright, I'm getting a lawyer, I just didn't know to interpret seniorjudges humor as sarcasm or snide Nevada gambling law comic relief. Thanks for your help, all of you, even the harshest of it. In the future, leave being judgemental to the judges, eh rmet4nzkx? Sure sure you were just filling me in one how terrible my life is gonna be because of this, but I mean really, most people would consider that an unnecessary downer. Guess it gave perspective though.

Anyway, I really do mean to say this forum has been helpful, but I believe I'm done here. Thanks again.

PS. rmet4nzkx, if you really are a judge, I apologize

Hopefully you have learned some lessons beyond the fact that you needed an attorney and what may be a minor offense can have life long consequences. In medicine you will have to give people news they don't want to hear or that you can't make it all better. Ethics begins even before you hang a shingle. Not a judge, but I do evaluations for the courts, so the judges listen to me and I have been a consultant to the medical board, so I know the consequrnces. Give us an update.

rmet is NOT a judge... and not even an attorney. Just someone who watches LOTS of Judge Judy (who also wasn't even a civil court judge!!).

LOL! :D Not a Judge or attorney, never claimed to be, and always represented my forensic background.

Never watched a lot of Judge Judy, although I will admit to watching it a few times and it was entertaining. You are correct, sort of, she was a family court judge, which is seldom, civil. ;)

jetx, are you trying to tell me that all those CLE credits I sent in for watching Judge Judy are invalid?

Anyway, to answer your question of me posted in another thread: Yes, I am a dog show judge. How else do you think I got all those prizes for my scrawny, ugly, bandy-legged Schnauzers?

skizzle, I have spent a lot of time in Reno (at the National Judicial College). Reno cops take the stiffing of locals very seriously. (If you don't believe me about the gum in the casino business...just try it.)

One time when I was there, a tourist who tried to stiff a taxi driver was arrested at gunpoint!

At least Judge Judy was in fact a judge, and a real nasty one at that. Luckily, both she and I left the Family Court around the same time, but not quickly enough for me to pick up on her interpersonal "skills" :) (Incidentally, she was actually rather pleasant off the bench.)
