I signed my landlord's name in my own handwriting to receive internet connection from the company "Broadband" She was unable to be here when they arrived to connect me. I told her what I did, and she seemed just fine with it. We have just rented a house from her and she came over with a cop to tell me that if I didn't leave by Saturday that she would file charges on me for forgery. I did not alter the signature in any way. It is MY signature. What are my rights and how serious is this particular crime? I am a law abiding citizen with no prior criminal record whatsoever.
