I'm confused. Are there statutes of limitations for the possession of a controlled substance? (In the st of Nevada). Or would the case be "forever open?"
Please answer. I really need this little piece of information

Yes, there's a statute of limitations. NRS 171.090 -- 1 year for misdemeanors, 2 years for gross misdemeanors, 3 years for non-violent felonies. Possession is an E felony.
