What is the name of your state? California

Please advise what next to do. At the arrainnment in court for a criminal case of a friend with no criminal records, his lawyer was absent becos the sheriff office misinformed him of court time.

My friend was represented by a public defender who pleaded not guilty on behalf of my friend but informed the court that he has an attorney. The judge then reschedule case for another one week without setting the bail bond.

Is there anything to be done by my friend's lawyer to get the case heard earlier.

Is it possible to get my guy out of custody by any other means. Is there any motion to file?
This is a guy with no criminal records and a very good job.

Urgent in california. thank you.
