Sorry, but it depends. How much $, for how long, how they found out, what the funds were meant for and where they went, and was it obvious to the reciever that it was an offense, and can it be paid back...???

Generally a slap on the wrist, and the recipient promises to pay back the funds. However, if we're talking tens of thousands of dollars' worth of fraud...that's a different matter, and the recipient needs to be speaking with an attorney.
