well, i was wanting to know if when you fill out a police report, and then 4 months later you go and tell the police department that you lied about what you wrote, what will the punishment be. also i was wanting to know if and when this does happend will the person whom the complaint was made againt's charges be dropped even if now because of it they have a warrent out for their arrest. please help

The state decides whether to prosecute, not you. Therefore, if you change your story, the state can still go ahead with the prosecution. If you are called as a witness and deny anything happened, the statements you originally made to the police can be introduced as evidence. If you admit making a false complaint to the police, you could be prosecuted for that, but you would probably not get jail time for it.
