What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Tennessee

A few weeks ago I was on Myspace playing around and I email a girl whom I thought to be 19 based on her profile

She said her boyfriend would not like that and after a few more emails she finlly said she was 15

At that time I quit talking with her...I never ask again and never sent any pics or ask for any pics!

I even told Myspace that she was on there with a listed age of 19 and was in fact 15..and that at the time I sent her a message I didnt know she was really 15

Well the cops show up at my house today with a warrant to get my computer.

I NEVER SENT ANYONE A MESSAGE THAT I THOUGHT OR KNEW WAS UNDER if they told me they were under 18 ..I stopped chatting and never sent any pics or anything!!!!

Can they get me for talking to someone that I think is 19 and she even states she is 1 9on her Myspace Pro

that was disgusting and irresponsible, and i think solicitation of prostitution is also illegal.

there are kids on the other side of the computer you pedio how about you keep yourself under control, unless you know the person on the other side.. personally.

I understand your anger!!!

I thought she was 19 or I would have never emailed her!!! If she stated her true age on her pro she would have never been emailed!!!!

no she was 15 the whole time.

there is no law that says you have to tell your real age on the computer on websites or anything else. myspace is ALL CHILDREN. if you were any kind of adult you would know that and treat everyone you dont actually know like a minor until identities can be verified in person.

if you want to be disgusting to strangers on the internet they have sites for that.

In the myspace agreement it states you can not mis - represent your age

Tennessee law, it is an offense for a person eighteen years of age or older, by means of oral, written or electronic communication, electronic mail or Internet services, directly or through another, to intentionally command, request, hire, persuade, invite or attempt to induce a person whom the person making the solicitation knows, or should know, is less than eighteen years of age,
How should I know??? Am I a mind reader or expected to have psychic abilitys?

If you state your are a certain age before hand should I know your real age right now ie psychic?

I'm saying this last thing, you might want to process it throughly.

You dont have to be a psychic, you need to be responsible.

UNLESS YOU ARE ON A SPECIFIC PORNO SITE, FOR DISGUSTING FREAKS LIKE YOURSELF, TREAT EVERYONE YOU CONTACT BLINDLY ONLINE LIKE A MINOR.

problem solved, now shove off to find that lawyer you need.

Should Know!!!!

So you should know my age...so tell me whats my age?
you act like your 15. but obviously you are closer to 20 since your acting the way you are online, and you are being charged for it.

if you are 25+ i seriously suggest a psychologist with your lawyer.

I have not been charged with anything..and it is not against the law to have an adult chat with an adult!

I'm a Northern Girl
No, but it is against the law to have the kind of chat you had with a child. Myspace is full of children. Her lying about her age is not an affirmative defense anywhere in the US. It was stupid and foolish and criminal of you to have that kind of a conversation with anyone you could not see. There are children lying about their age all over the internet; just as there are cops looking for child predators all over the internet.

You can complain all you like that you *thought* she was an adult, but YOU were the one responsible for CONFIRMING that she was one too.

The last line clearly states any person "knows, or should know" is less than 18 years old. The fact is I thought she was a 19 year old. No law broken!

What someone thinks I should know is crazy! I should know she was overage because her pro stated that..After she told me she was 15 then I know she was underage and I didnt talk anymore with her

So I should know how to fly a F-16? even though no one has told me how

Undercover cops tel you upfront they are 13f or 15f..and then if you keep chatting sex with them you break the law

They never tell you at first they are over age!
