State Seizure of Assets and Back Taxes Advice Request

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Michigan

What type of law practice would you recommend for this situation? I am also open for suggestions of a specific law firm if you feel its appropriate in eather Macomb, Oakland, or Gratiot Counties

My father is serving a prison sentence for 2.5 years. He had 50K in an IOLTA trust fund with his attorney and is getting a pension. My father discontinued his original representation while working on his appeal and the IOLTA money was then deposited back in his bank account.

Issue 1. Michigan state has scheduled a hearing to show cause for seizure of the money and 90% of his monthly pension. If that happens he has no funds for legal defense should he win a new trial through appeal. Issue 2 He has not filed taxes since his arrest 3 years ago and IRS is now sending letters requesting a response. What type of law practice would you recommend is best to represent us through this process with Michigan and IRS? Your comment on this matter is appreciated. Thank you.
