What do you mean, "signature forgery"?

It is not necessarily illegal to sign someone else's name ... it is the purpose or the result of signing that name that will determine if it is a crime or not.

What happened? Has it been discovered yet?

Then I'd have to say that the three year limit likely applies ... and whether it can be charged as a crime will depend on the details.
