A relative of mine was outdoors cleaning and apparently dropped his checkbook, but he didn't realize this for several weeks. By then the bank had already posted three fraudulent checks totaling $900. Once he notified the bank, they transferred his remaining funds into a new account but won't reimburse the value of the hot checks until he proves the checkbook was stolen. Family Member needs every cent of this $900 for property taxes -- if he doesn't get it soon, he'll start asking us for it! What can he do to get this thing rolling?

About 99.9% of banks want a police report filed. The police give a case number of the report and that is what the bank wants. They will reimburse the money unless they feel someone is full of bull. If they are, the filing of the police report and subsequent investigation will find that out.
