the police. i need to know what are the time guidelines for filing.
the officer said he had to wait 10 days to file the charge and that it was considered a cool down period. what i need to know is before what date does he need to file this charge before it is null and void.

Generally (and I cannot cite you the law on this) a misdemeanor assault charge must be filed within a year after the assault.
