What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? illinois have 6 acres of woods in bureau county illinois-we put up no trespass signs because we noticed quad-runner tracks on our land.we dont ride on our property at all.then we put up poles and cables blocking all access points on our land. we found the poles pushed over and new tracks riding around the barriers--we know who it is a new neighbor--but we cant catch him on the property when we are there--what can we do legally? he knows hes trespassing and is now destroying our property--do we have to catch him on tape or in person or is there any other means to stop this--frustrated in ill.-- sincerely jon henn

Have you approached this new neighbor and spoke with them about your concerns?

Doesn't anyone bring over a plate of cookies and welcome people to the neighborhood anymore?

I only suggest trying to work it out with them because it is always best to try to get along with your neighbors. Nothing worse than finding yourself in a Hatfield vs. McCoys dispute with a neighbor. Getting the law involved doesn't make it any easier to become friends with your neighbors.

But in answer to your question, you either have to see them or have a video of them. Unless they have a track going from your property right to their front door, then an officer might be able to issue them a citation on the evidence without an eye witness.

But I'd try speaking with them first,,,
