What is the name of your state? What is the name of your state?South Dakota Vs Iowa

If a crime was alledged to have been committed in South Dakota and the victim is a child from Iowa, and the accused resides in South Dakota, which state has jurisdiction to bring forth charges and eventually the arrest?
Law enforcement from both states are investigating, and DHS from Iowa.

Anyone can investigate. The actual crime occurred in the state where the criminal act took place. Depending on the circumstances, it IS possible that the same or related crimes occurred in EACH state.

As of now it is just an accusation of a crime, an isolated incident that occurred in South Dakota only.

Isolated or not, if it is a criminal act, and it occured IN South Dakota, then that will be where any court proceedings will be held.

However, depending on the nature of the incident, there CAN be elements of the offense(s) that could be charged in either or both states. And since you mention a child victim, it lends some great likelihood that some portion of the crime could be charged in both states.

However, lacking detail, that is only speculation.
