What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? south carolina

may 1,09 i was cleared on charges of 2nd degree burglry and grand larceny. They held cash and property of mine in the trial, the procecutor threatened to bring new charges of receiving stolen property( the cash the officers took from my safe). What is the legal amount of time they can hold my property or at least formally charge me? I am in south carolina and have a lawyer but not understanding the process. Is there anything I can do at this point to speed the release of my property?
