What is the name of your state? California

I have a friend that has a DUI and was doing everything he needed to do but he got sick and missed an AA class and a final meeting with the classes that are mandatory to attend for a DUI conviction. He was tossed from the program and automatically he was reffered by the program back to court. He never recieved a paper with a court date so obviously he never went. He then recieved a letter in the mail notifying him of a warrant with a bond of $5000.00. He currently has about $500 remaining on hid fine. I had talked to friends about this when the discussion came up and they said that if he does not have the money when he appears in front of the judge that they may detain him. Does anyone know what the reall deal is and how generous the Ca courts might be due to him not having to pay that much more in his fine? What would they do?
