Filing lawsuit on State of Texas

Texas

I have a question. I would like to file a lawsuit against the state of Texas. There is thing called 'Texas Driver's Responsibility Act', where Texas drivers are being made to pay 4 times the ticket. once in the city, they violated traffic law and then 2-3 monthly paymentms, usually adding up to more than 1000 dollars for one offense. This is double jeopardy, no matter how it is being looked at and from angle it's been looked at. This is against US constitution and against the Federal law. no one should be punished twice (in this case 4 times) for the same offense.

I would like to know, how to proceed within filing lawsuit against Texas and make them payback everyone their money.

Texas Driver's Responsibility Law

For my non-Texas colleagues, Texas has a point system for traffic violations. The more you violate, the more it will cost you. I'm suspecting this OP has a DWI and is complaining about the surcharge.

This is not double jeopardy. You are not being tried a second time for the same offense with the same evidence. You are being assessed an increased fine for a serious offense or accumulated moving violations.

Just don't drive. Then you won't get any more tickets!

Communication is KEY - 10 mins of talking now can save you months of headaches later!

Double jeopardy

Country Living
You are absolutely wrong. That was totally off topic. It shouldn't even be your concern if i was driving dead or drunk. I don't drink and discourage drunk drivers. The ticket was was not having DL on me, but like i said, thats off topic...

Thankx for input though.

I am pressing charges on State of TX for double jeopardy.

There are three essential protections included in the double jeopardy principle, which are:
being retried for the same crime after an acquittal
retrial after a conviction
being punished multiple times for the same offense

Wrong there... I'd be very concerned.

Do you think the State of Texas hasn't had a hoard of attorneys review all the laws before they were put in place? Do you think they have never been challenged? You be sure and post back and let us know how all this worked out.

Driving is a privilege, not a right. You get penalized if you don't obey the rules. You should know that since you already have a Class B misdemeanor on your record.

If you're so unhappy with the rules and regulations in the U.S., you can return to your home country.
