What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? oklahoma, is it legal for an unlicensed person to work on police cars. our waterman is told to repair and work on police car mechanical problems.

It appears they desire a regular mechanic to have an ASE Master Mechanic certification as well as some EVT specialization. There is no law requiring it however.

There is no license requirements for any auto repair mechanics exclusive of any business licensing requirements. As an employee of a municipality, your waterman does not need a license to work on cars.
