Michigan, i have asked this question many times locally and never gotten an informed answer I would like to salvage the large driftwood off our local public beach . I do not know if I need a permit or if it is prohibited. people have done it for years here on a small scale with no complaints. but i would like to harvest the large old growth that washes up. I am aware that there are salvage operations under way with divers retrieving old growth . but this is just lying on the public beach. are there any laws governing this? can I get a permit? thanks sperts
