assault

What is the name of your state? idaho
Not sure what to do, i was assaulted at a st patrics party at a local pub. first by a woman then a man. the woman punched me in the face and then the man jumped on me and punched me several times. neither of them did any real damage. i filed a police report but the officer kind of blew me off and told me most likely it will be dropped. there were several witnesses that saw them attack me and i dont know why it would be dropped, i mean a crime was committed right? does the person being attacked have to suffer a major injury before it was a crime? what should i do? follow up with the police? hire a personal lawyer? thank you.

Did you require medical treatment? If not, I don't think there are damages to sue for. If so, then are your injuries permament? If permament, consult a lawyer. Yes, it was wrong to be attacked but if the police won't do anything and you don't have damages, you don't have a case.

Why do you believe they both decided to punch you?

If you have no injuries, you have no case even if you do have witnesses. Learn from the fight and try to prevent it next time, either by learning some self defense or avoiding actions that caused the fight.
