bar fight

What is the name of your state? indiana
i went to iprinceton, illinois (thats my hometown) to a bar to have a drink with some friends. someone picked a fight with me and when i knocked them down the bar owner/bouncer took me outside with his hands around my throat, he would not stop choking me so i pulled his hands off of me. after arguing for a bit i ended up waking up on a gurnee with my head split open. i was taken to er and had 4 staples put in my head. the bouncer told the cops that i just fell down as i left the bar but i know this to be not true. they said they would pay the medical bills but still have not and have told the hospital they are not going to since they are not liable. how are they not liable since this happened on their property and they were the last ones to serve me?

How intoxicated were you?

You need to consult a lawyer.

You were severely assaulted by a party with a duty to care for your safety in the bar.

Your expectation for the bar to only pay for med bills is unlikely without a fight.

You may have a case against the bouncer and the bar.

How intoxicated were you. If you were pitch drunk, it doesn't matter. They can't beat you. The impact is on relaibility of your recall AND your level of combativeness.

The OP posted that someone picked a fight with him. Instead of leaving the bar, he retaliated, which suggests that he might have been intoxicated enough to impair his judgement. If he was, what he thinks happened may or may not have. If the person who picked the fight was verbally but not physically aggressive, then it would make sense for the bouncer to go for the OP since the OP had responded with aggression.

Only witnesses can confirm what the OP says was and wasn't true, e.g., he "knows" that he didn't fall (and injure himself).
