Can I sue hair stylist in small claims court?

Can I sue a hair stylist in a small claims court (in Illinois)? The stylist performed a thermal reconditioning system to my hair in which it is intended to improve the quality of hair and make it straight. Immediately after the treatment I felt a 90 degree bend at the top of my hair, near my scalp. I called the stylist and asked her why this was, she responded that it was normal and was usually caused because the put the solution close to my scalp. A couple of weeks later my hair started breaking off at the bend line she had created, I am now left with short patches of hair all over my head. I asked her what could be done about this and she only offered to refund 1/2 of the $500 service ($250). I think this is extremely unfair considering the embarrassment and pain I have suffered and will continue to suffer until my hair grows back.

Anyone can sue anyone for anything. You will have to prove that she was negligent in order to win. Meaning she did the procedure wrong, not just that your particular hair type had a bad reaction to it. Have you gotten an opinion from another stylist?
