Child Burned At Day Care Center

My 9 month old niece was severely burned on her hands at the Day Care Center. Apparently, there were 2 couselors watching a group of kids outside and it was extremely hot. The storm door was very hot to the touch and my niece placed both hands on the door causing second degree burns on both hands with the left hand 75% burned. We are concerned as we now have to take our niece to a "burn unit" in a major university hospital. Is there any liability here? What if my niece is unable to completely use her hand(s) again?

I would be hiring a lawyer.
