Damage to anothers property

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? PA
We are renters and would like to put a basketball hoop out back in
our backyard which is a parking lot that will hold 8 cars in their own space.
There is no cars parking there and will not be any cars parked there. If we put up a basketball hoop and the BALL goes over to the ajoined parking lot and hits he neighbors car or for that matter goes anywhere and hits someoneles's property and causes damage, who is responsable? We have renters insurance, and my sons grandmother is worried that the owner, which is the landlord of the home we rent and insure will and can be suied. Can he?, and if so what can we do to put the basketball court up and protect the landlord from being suied? The home we live in is all in the family, but the owner is a very well to do Dr. and has alot to loose so we have not put the basket ball hoop up. Is this a problem to worry about?, or wouldnt it go under my renters insurance if anyone playing did damage to someones property with the ball?

You and the landlord could both be liable if there were to be any type of accident, whether one causing property damage or injury or both. That's why you'd better get LL's permission before doing anything of the sort.

the LL could surely be included in a suit. Whether they would be held liable or not would be something the courts would ultimately decide but there are situations where the LL could actually be held liable as well as you and your children.

Not really anything you can do to remove all liability for the LL. You cannot release the LL from liability to others.
