defendant in suit

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Fl. I have a house in Pa. that is vacant. If someone falls on my sidewalk can I be sued?

Yes. Heck you could be sued even if they DIDN'T fall on your sidewalk.

defend in suit

I got a letter fron an attorney on 1/19/2009 saying someone fell on my sidewalk in pa. All the attorney would give was the name but none of the details. I didn't have insurance on the property yet as I had just closed on the property. I called the police and fire co. and asked if they had a call on the supposed date and they did not,so this man never called an ambulance. I checked the for the date and three days prior and the temp was an average of 57 degrees with o precpt so there was no ice. Can someone just say they fell on your property with no proof and win the case? The house is worth about $40,000 and is free and clear. I live on SS and don't have a lot of money for a lawyer. AM I IN TROUBLE ?

Did you get a subpoena to appear or is he just asking for settlement? Ask for police report.

Also ask why his client was trespassing on your property.
