Dog bit by another dog bite

What is the name of your state? California

A woman came to our front door and accused one of our dogs of biting her dog on the foot- while our dogs were in the backyard (our fence backs up to a park and the fence is half brick and then wrought iron on the top.

Here story is full of many inconsisties and she demanded we pay the vet bill as she said her dog had to have surgery.

Here are the odd facts:

She never told us her name
Didn't have the dog with her
Didn't tell us the amount of the vet bill
Didn't tell us when or what time it happened.

After we refused to pay - she said she would contact animcal control and take legal action.

I've been worrying all week.

Sounds like a scam. She may have hoped to scare you into handing over cash. Tell her to provide vet bills and photos if she shows up again. Don't worry.

alleged dog bite**************

Hi,

Yes-the dogs were in the yard. I've thought that too that it was a scam. I also forgot to mention after she left - we looked at the fence on both sides - and there was no blood or fur - which seems really odd - if the "supposed" bite required surgery.

Dogs are required to be on a leash in the park - we think she had the dog off the leash - as when I asked her where she was she said on the grass in the park - and I said the grass doesn't come up to the fence (it is about 25 feet of sloping mulch) from the edge of the grass in the park up to our fence). I also said the only way your dog could have gotten it's foot in the fence was to be standing up on the brick part of the fence - she did not reply to that.

We think if the dog even got hurt - it stepped on a piece of irrigation pipe - that runs along our fence on the park's property OR the dog somehow got it's foot caught in one of the slats of the wrought iron OR she thought we were some easy target to get money! Maybe she does this to make a living.....

Thanks.

What a way to make a living!!! LOL

Your dogs were contained, you are not liable for a dog sticking it's foot through your fence.
