Dog bite settlement not disclosed by my attorney

What is the name of your state? CA

My daughter is 17 and was attacked by a dog two years ago walking home from school. I was told her case was being settled and a demand letter was sent out, this was about 20 days ago. I recieved a copy of the letter but there were pages missing (other pages that were sent to the insurance co). My attorney says he does not like to disclose any monetary amounts, as it is his practice to do so. The settlement amount has never been discussed during this lawsuit. I would like to start setting up an annuity and other financial things for my daughter to ensure she has a future with the money she gets. My question is, does my attorney have to disclose what they are asking for my daughter? All the paper says is policy limit. I have called my attorney asking for an appointment only being told the appointment will be after the settlement is accepted. What's going on here?

Thanks for any advice. What is the name of your state?

Fire that pretender and get a real lawyer. His actions are unethical. (That's the nicest word I can think of.)
