Dog injured at boarding facilityWhat is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Florida My dog was staying at 7x24 dog obedience school for the past 3 weeks. On Saturday he apparently ingested a foreign object. He had exploratory surgery however, they were unable to find anything. My question is what liability should the obedience school have? My contract says that they are not responsible for death, disease, and a host of other things. But that they are responsible for maintaining a safe environment. My vet bills so far are about $2,000, plus I paid $2,300 for the training. Do I have any recourse? |

| All of us eat foreign objects, every day, every time we eat; so do dogs. Exactly what did the dog eat?

| Nothing was found during the exploratory surgey. The conclusion is that what he ate has either passed into his lower intestines (and will hopefully pass through normal digestion) or he ingested some sort of granules (sand, gravel). When I spoke with the staff at the school I was told that the day before the incident they had put in new gravel in the kennel area. That may be the likely substance. I understand that dogs will eat foreign objects, but my point is that is was their reponsibility to maintain a safe environment, which they did not. Do you think I am expecting too much to ask them to cover the medical expenses incurred because of their failure? |
