Did the Dr. say you will need an MRI? That is a very expensive test...don't they usually do x-rays first? I must have missed what the doctor said when you went there.

Well usually they will want to rule out fracture or other bony pathology before going for the expensive MRI, swelling can have a hundred different causes. But if there's TOO much swelling it will obscure the x-ray results anyway.
