unattended child

WHAT IS THE NAME OF YOUR STATE? TEXAS
I Did A Very Very Dumb Mistake...i Have A 2 Year Old And A 3 Month Baby And I Am Scared To Death...i Always Promised Myself That I Would Never Leave My Child In My Vehicle At All. But Yet, Yesterday I Just Had To Get My Son Pampers So I Stopped A Small Convinience Store For Easier Access...well I Noticed That There Weren't Any Shopping Carts...... Out Of Foolishness I Decided To Take My 3 Month Baby And Leave My Sleeping Child With Our Cousin Who Is Ten Yrs. It Didn't Take Me Not Even Five Minutes When The Cops Were There. I Feel Horrible And I Will Always Carry This With Me. I Thank God With All My Heart I Only Recieved A Citation. My Question Is....what Can I Expect? I Have Never In My Life Been Pulled Over And This Being My First Time Just Makes Me The Worst Mom Ever. I Will Never Forgive Myself And I Am So Scared Because I Don't Know The Process. Help Me Please! My Kid and cousin are Perfectly Fine and Healthy.

Is there a problem with your keyboard? Having ever word capitalized makes your post hard to read.

The software does that when someone uses the caps-lock for the ENTIRE post...

You left your 2 year old child in the vehicle with the 10 year old cousin? Was the vehicle locked and was it running? What was the weather like outside? Was the 2 year old in his car seat and buckled properly? Did the cousin stay in the vehicle with your child the entire time? I am not completely sure why the police were called - can you elaborate why? At least in Arizona, there is no minimum age to leave a child unattended (per CPS. Seriously. It was in the news several times over the last few years.) but if the unattended child gets hurt or something then there is heck to pay by the parent(s). I would think a 10 year old could watch a 2 year old for 5 minutes if the car was locked, the heat was on, and the 2 year old was properly secured in the car seat.

Don't beat yourself up over it. It's not a big deal, you're not the worst mom in the world. There isn't going to be any long lasting effects from this and you will forget about it in 2 or 3 months

Jack, that's not what she was asking about. She was asking what legal issues will she face. That's why I asked her questions to get more of her story, not just pat her on the head and say she will forget she did this in 2-3 months. I see she has not come back anyway...
