Got punched for no reason, teeth damage

What is the name of your state? Massachusetts

I got punched for no reason at a car show. This person had a conflict with my friend, and my friend wasnt here, he knew who i was and decided to jump me. I thought we was friends because he talks to me online all the time. When i went to greet him with hand shake he choked me and punched me in the face. He chipped my tooth, gave me a black eye, and broke my necklace. I never layyed a hand on him. Im still shock because i still cant think of a reason.. why me? I cant even drink or eat anyhting cold becasue the nerve is exposed. What actions should i take at this point? A police file has bee taken. Do i have a case?

Sue the bad guy for your medical and dental bills.

what if i have dental coverage? Im not sure if i do yet. Is there anything else i can sue him for? pain and suffering? I'm definetly prosecuting him for assault and battery. I want this on his record.

Wait until after the criminal proceedings before you file the civil. It will make much easier for you. Save your bills and I'm sure you'll be able to tack on some punitive damages.
