Cool

Hotel Accident

So, I ran into a window at this big corporate name hotel in Florida. That night not only did I break the window, but I also ended up with 23 stitches in my right palm. The next morning the Hotel administration asked me to sign a paper pretty much saying I wouldn't sue.

So now, 19 days later they call me and tell me that I have to pay for it, which I normally wouldn't mind doing if it wasn't $863!!! $863 For a window?!?! $863 for a flat piece of glass that is about five feet in length and three feet in width?!?

I feel like I'm getting wronged here.

I need help. I have no insurance and I'm in college...what should I do?What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?

What caused you to run into the window? Had you been drinking?

Let's see.....you cause damage to their nice big window ...

they want you to pay for it...

you are being wronged how??? Because you hurt YOURSELF (and luckily no-one else)

and had to get stitches you think that should absolve you of responsibility??

Even if you were NOT under the influence of something (which I seriously doubt) you would be responsible for breaking their window.

Now...if you were under the influence of alcohol or drugs...I find it incredible that you would
think YOU were being wronged!!!

The fact that you do not have money, and are a college student has nothing to do in lessening your responsibility.

What did you think they were going to do??Offer you a settlement since you were kind enough to sign a paper saying you would not sue?? If you were under the influence of anything you should be glad they are not pressing charges.

Grow up already! Take responsibility for your actions. And learn something from your serious lack of judgment.

If you live in the dorms, you should still be covered on your parent's homeowner's insurance. If you live in an apartment, GET RENTERS INSURANCE. No renter should EVER be without it and it's so cheap, even a college student can afford it.

There's also the cost of INSTALLING the window, that they wouldn't have had to install if you hadn't broken it.

How? The hotel asked you to take responsibility for the property damage that you did. You are in the wrong if you don't take care of it.

What better lesson to learn in college than to own up to your mistakes. Pay for the damage.
