I need some adviceI was leaving work and due to a faulty door I ripped my finger pad off. I am a torch worker at a glass factory and also a package handler at a parcel service. Due to this accident I have been out of work for over a week. The parcel service will not let me come back to work until I have an OK from their doctor. I had a follow up and they will still not let me come back. I just want the doctor bills paid as well as lost wages. Would this fall under worker's comp? I was leaving the glass factory when this accident occurred. The glass factory's building is run by a property managementcompany and I was off the clock when this happened. Any advice would be much appreciated. Also I spoke to the property management company and they are telling me, worker's comp will cover the glass shop's wages but it does not cover the parcel service. I work two jobs for a reason! I live in Kentucky |

| When workers comp is involved, your ability to recover beyond actual damages is very limited. You won't be able to sue your employer, for example. I'm not sure about the building owner though. You should consult a local PI AND WC attorney (two different ones if you can't find one comfortable with both) about who you have a cause of action against and for what. It may depend on whether there was actual negligence - did the property manager KNOW that the door was in need of repairs and did nothing? If so, can you prove it?
