Injured During University Physical Education Course

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?
Oregon

Hello, I think this is the right place to post, but I'm not completely sure. If not, please direct me to the correct place.

On to the problem, I was injured during a basketball course at Oregon State University when another student hit me in the chin. I was playing responsibly, but the playing conditions seem rather dangerous. The games were 40 minutes long, this occurred about 30 minutes in, there were no substitutes for the most part. No instructors were supervising or refereeing the games, and the gym was about 95 degrees at the time. I was very tired, but having no substitutes, I was unable to take a break at any time. The medical bills came out to about $1500, so I was wondering if there was anything I could to do to recover at least some of the money? I was not unable to work or anything like that, but the medical bills are a bit steep for a college student.
