Kids Playing

Connecticut
Hey, Im 16 years old. Me and my friend went to the park couple days ago and we are big boys and we got asked to play football. During the game I tackled a kid and he fumbled the ball. I ran the whole way to other endzone then finally looked back and saw he didnt get back up. He said he broke his leg. The next day in my school two police officers confronted me telling me the kid served a complaint. He said when he was on the ground he received "cheap shots". The cops believe that the cheap shots could of made the injury even worse. The cops asked me if I saw anyone give him cheap shots but I did not. There were 3 people standing near him when I looked back. After the kid got up my friend thought it be funny to go running over to him and put dog sh*t in his face. My main question is would I be liable to pay for injuries? We were in the towns park where there is basketball court and baseball fields. The accident was a complete accident. If Im not liable who would be if surgery or something would be done to fix his problem. The cop said he had a fractured hip bone. Please someone tell me!

Depends how severe his injuries are - if they are within reason for a tackle football game then it would likely his responsibility b/c he was a voluntary participant, however a fractured hip is serious and from my knowledge of football, it’s not a typical injury (http://www.biomech.com/db_area/archives/1999/9905sports.53-58.bio-.html). Hip fractures are very rare in young people and generally occur during high velocity motor vehicle accidents. However, the injured person may have had a condition that predisposed him to fractures.

How hard did you push him when you tackled? What are the other three people at the game saying happened? If you did hit/take a cheap shot after the tackle then you should tell your parents and see if they want to get a lawyer considering that is who will be responsible.

Your friend could be in trouble if he really put dog feces into the boys face since that is battery. Furthermore, if you just stood there and watched your friend do this then you should think about how you are involved in what happened. Smearing feces in a persons face is not only disgusting, it is incredibly immature and I for one would sue anyone who did that to my kid.

The cop just said he had fractured his hip bone. The main complaint was about what happened after I tackled him. Personally I did not touch him after that. I went straight to ball and returned it for td. The "Cheap Shots" could of been done by my friend. My friend though did put the dog feces near his face and around it. Didn't exactly get it on his face. Im just worried that the parents of the kid might get mad about what my friend did and file charges for the injury. If in fact my friend hit him and for the attempted dog feces thing would he be liable? The whole game all of us except for one kid who wasnt really a part in anything....were tackling each other and fooling around. I mean accidents happen but I'm not no son of a millionaire. Please reply to this thanks.. Oh and I barely grabbed a hold of his midsection and I went down to ground with him. Also when my friend was interviewed by the cops they told him he might be arrested. So I'm guessing your right with the battery and the dog ****. Poor choice on his point..ty for first reply but pls send another to confirm or let me know

Why has he spent over $1.35M in legal fees to block disclosure... rather than spend $12 for a VALID birth cert to settle the matter? The 'certificate' he has presented doesn't qualify to get a drivers license, wouldn't allow a child to qualify for Little League, or for a real citizen to get a US passport!

My response:

Oh, please. Unless you can, or want to, respond to the "idiot" with a "legal" response, then shut the hell up. JetX has forgotten more than you'll ever know.

We don't help people looking for an escape - - especially those who PURPOSEFULLY cause injuries to others. The writer is going to get slammed because he undoubtedly "increased the risks" otherwise involved in the game.
