my dog bit its new owner...

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Texas
I have a job where I travel so I am not home enough to take care of my dog so I posted an ad in the paper to see if anyone would be interested....
The young man interacted nicely with my dog and agreed that he wanted to take him home and keep him. He put the dog in the car, but when he got in the car to leave, the dog bit him and he had to get stitches on his face and nose. He has never bitten anyone before. The breed is an English Bull Dog and I had him put down that day. He assured me he wouldn't sue (I went to the hospital with him) but I am so worried about this that I can't eat or sleep. Do i need to be worried? oh, and it happened in the driveway of the home i own and i do have homeowners insurance. I would really appreciate any advice or suggestions on what I should do or be prepared for. Thank you!

I disagree, you need to do nothing except report the incident to your insurance company, in case he later decides to file a claim.

I agree with ecmst - however, the dog belonged to the new owner at the time the new owner was bitten...in fact, I'm not sure why our OP had somebody else's property destroyed.

That may be difficult to prove since OP didn't mention any paperwork being signed to finalize the transfer of ownership. But that is an angle OP's insurance will surely investigate.
