neglectful bus company What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? WisconsinSchool bus company will not drive down our street - they make the kids walk up to .3 miles (4-10 yr olds) to a bus stop where the parent can not see the kids. Parents have asked the bus company to change the route for years - they refuse. A few days ago two kids had to jump in a ditch to avoid a car - one broke his ankle - the child was not being escorted by a parent. Bus company says they are not libel since it is the parents responsibility to get the kids to the stop safely. Us parents maintain the kids/families are put into this unsafe situation because of the bus company's decision - is there any liability by the bus company? What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? |

That's entirely up to the parents, whether or not the children walk with supervision, walk alone, or are driven.

| Not unless it was a bus that almost hit the kid. The driver of the car that almost hit him would be liable if he could be found. Other then that, it's the parent's responsibility to look out for the kid until he gets on the bus. The bus company has no responsibility for the safety of the kids until they are actually in the care of the bus driver. |

| Why is a small child walking alone to the bus stop ![]() Why doesn't mommy or daddy do the parental thing and wait at the stop with their child? I'm amazed at how easy it is to fix the blame on the bus company.
