In a nightmare with my attorney and doctors

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Florida

In June of this year I was injured at a gym due to the equipment snapping in two.

I landed on my pelvis and was taken to the ER. They gave me heavy narcotics and sent me home with orders to go to Orthopod on Monday. I think they did that because I didn't have insurance and they didn't want to do any tests then.

On Monday I went to Orthopod and he ordered a lower spine MRI which came back negative, yet I was in a great deal of pain in pelvis and lower spine.

2 weeks later my neck and upper back began to swell up and orthopod ordered a neck MRI which came back as a bulging disk.

I have never been treated for a neck or back issue in my life until after the accident at they gym.

Now this attorney has stopped the case and won't issue any more letter of protections for any doctors to see me. They say they can't tie a neck injury to landing on a pelvis. The lady has the audacity to say it looks fishy to her. All they while I am in agony and can't get any treatment without her giving a letter of protection since I have no health insurance.

A neurosurgeon I saw said the spine is like a trunk and the force of the upward jam to the pelvis caused the entire spine to go upward and could affect any area of the spine.

So I am told by this attorney that I will be stuck with all the medical bills and I have no case after 3 months of very real pain and laid up in bed with 4 children to care for.

Am I trapped with an attorney who won't help me?

Can I fire them?

Any help appreciated! What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?

Better start looking for another attorney. And apply for Medicaid.

am I able to fire the current one? can they pursue me for work they have already done? which is almost none, but they will claim a large number of hours I'm sure.

my medicaid benefits are as follows. spend $600.00 per month in medical bills, then benefits kick in. that is per month not annual.

Yes, and yes. Though it seems to me your lawyer is firing you (dropping your case). Talk to more and get other opinions. If you have medical opinions stating the neck and lower back injuries have the same cause (the fall), you should be able to find a lawyer to fight for you based on that.

Your medicaid benefits...well they could be worse. You could be piling up $6000 per month in bills instead of $600.

Good luck
first off, thank you for taking time to look that up

wonder if this statement on that page is saying we really don't do much but here is a form anyway...

Please note The Florida Bar cannot intervene on your behalf in a civil or criminal case, nor can we give you legal advice. We do not have jurisdiction to consider complaints against judges and many elected officials. Our lawyer regulation department considers whether an attorney has violated the rules of conduct and determines whether, under the totality of the circumstances, the attorney should receive some type of discipline. The level of investigation varies depending on the complexity of the allegations. If your complaint is closed, you will receive a written explanation of the reasons why. There is no right to appeal a decision not to pursue an investigation.

Good for you! You need an attorney with a little common sense and some experience with accidents and injuries.

Now, do your best to get your treating MD to write a statement explaining how such a fall can and will injure your neck. He/she should make it simple and give an example from a common 'accident' such as dropping an open container of liquid, which will make the liquid shoot out the top. You can present the explanation to any attorney who does not understand how falling on your butt can rupture your disc anywhere along the vertebral column.

today I signed with a bulldog lawyer. I went to a pain management doctor who looked at MRI and said this was whiplash.

I have never been treated for neck or back injuries in my life. Attorney said I have a good case.

I am hoping for some relief from pain soon. getting an epidural next week
