Pro Se Civil suit questions.

What is the name of your state? Washington

If someone sent a defamatory letter from one county to another county which county would you file suit in? The origin of the letter or the destination? The home county of the defendant or the home county of the plaintiff?

If someone commmits abuse of process do you sue the courts of the same county or can you sue in the county of your residence? or can you choose?

If someone slandered you in one county can you sue them in your counties courts?

The cause of action is generally where the incident took place.

So where did the 'incident' take place?

So, I think what you are saying is that the suit needs to be filed in the court where the letter was written and not where it was delivered?

You haven't given any facts and details so I could not answer your question.

Hmmmm. I'll do a little better.

Someone from one county wrote and mailed a letter(about me) from their county to my friends/neighbors in the county I reside. My friends were kind enough to share it with me. I don't know if any more letters were sent. Do I sue in my county's courts or in the county of the person who sent the letter? Which is the one where the 'incident' is to have had taken place? is the incident considered the arrival of the letter or the sending of the letter? The two counties are also in different districts.

The letter belongs to your "friends". Since they published the defamation by showing you the letter, you should sue them in the county where they live.

Actually, what you should do is hire a lawyer and sue the person who wrote it also.

Expect to spend about $20K and three years.

But don't expect it to do any good. (You have yet to mention that any of this damaged you in any way.)

I said PRE SE!!

"Expect to spend about $20K and three years"

I SAID PRO SE!!! Or are you talking about the defendant spending $20k? Because I have no problem with that at all. I think the fee to file is $150.

I am going to sue the person that wrote the letter. I assume from what you said that you meant to tell me to file the complaint within the county that the document was published/printed/written/mailed. Sounds good to me. I'll do it and if it is wrong, I'll just refile in the other county.

What is the dollar amount of your actual damages?
