Question about making a waiver. Any input appreciated.

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? CA

Sorry if this has been covered before. I'm quite clueless when it comes to this kind of stuff.

Long story short I'm soon going to be sharing my house with a few people I barely know for a few days. I want to protect myself the best I can from a costly lawsuit in the event one of the guests injures themselves at my house and decides to sue me. I realize insurance is my main option. I'm also making sure there's nothing about my house that could be considered negligent.

But I wanted to know if I could make some kind of a personal injury waiver for them to sign to further protect against a lawsuit.

My main question is: Where do I get a form like this or can I just draft my own? I don't know how much if at all something like this would protect me but I figure it's better than nothing. Also, if nothing else it may be a good way to say "You've been warned, don't do something careless in my house and blame me"...

PS: I realize some may think it is tacky to make someone sign something like this, but I'm doing them a favor to begin with and it's basically a one-time thing.

Get good renters insurance - you can get it as cheap as $100 or so for the whole year, and every renter should have it anyway. And don't worry about a waiver, that's why you have insurance!

If you are a homeowner, you should already have insurance to cover you for this type of thing.
