should my landlord pay my medical bills?

What is the name of your state? NY

yesterday i tripped on a sprinkler head in my landlords front yard. I have 3 stiches in my knee and a sprained ankle. The reason i feel he is responsible is about 5 months ago he removed a small wooden barrier (like RR ties) from the front of the yard. Since then the ground has been eroding and spreading toward the street. this rosion has left the sprinkler head raised about 2in from the dirt causing me to trip. I might have been able to see it there but the grass was unmowed. Do you think he should be responsible for my medical bills and the huge scar i will have from this?

You're going to have a huge scar from three stitches?

His homeowner's insurance would likely pay whatever your medical bills were that were not covered by your health insurance. But he's not going to be responsible for anything extra for a minor scar for an injury you received cutting through his yard.
