Son Attacked at a party

What is the name of your state? Texas
My son was invited to a party at a Drs home and was attacked by one of the boy's friends. He has a bad knee injury and has been to therapy and to
several specialists. The parents were not supervising. They did not take the
weapon away when my son told the mom.
I called the police and they arrested the boy. The court never contacted me about the trial. It was in May.
I have big Dr. Bills. I need to recoup my bills.

In fact, you are so astonishingly correct in this matter, it will not surprise us one bit if you are offered a generous settlement, because, by golly, that’s just how it should be.

Injury Thread

My question is should I get an attorney to go after the people who had the
party and were not watching or the boy who attacked my son. I have
several thousand dollars worth of orthopedic bills, 2 MRIs.

This thread is the Injury thread. I would not post an injury thread on the
education board.
Maybe you should read forbes again your name might be already there.

Ann,

People like you make me sick. Did the hosts of the party instruct the boy to attack your son? Dont blame it on the host, blame it on the boy

Ann,
Contact the court, It is possible that restitution will be a part of the sentencing if it is brought to trial.
Also get copies of the police report and contact the parents where the party took place, perhaps their homeowners policy will cover it, but you will have to make a claim, that is why you will need the police report to prove you at lest made the police report and of course they will want copies of the bills.

Sorry I make you sick

Texas
When my son was attacked the Mother (owner if the house) was inside the
house. The Father came home saw the Police and left.
There were 12 boys outside. My son was invited to attend. My son went in the house and told the Mother he had been shocked. She went outside and told the boy not to do it again and she went back inside. Not taking the Stun Gun away from him or asking asking him to leave. My son went back outside and was chased by the same boy and fell Tearing the Meniscus in 2 places and knocking a piece of cartlidge from his knee. He also has a problem with his knee cap. I did call the police and pressed charges. The police told me that the would contact us when the trial came up.
I called them and they said they sent me a letter and I never received anything. He is on probation and moved out of the state. I would have gone to court. The boy was expelled from school . It was not his stun gun. It belonged to another boy. They charged him with a class A felony. These were
13 year old children. I have not hired a lawyer and this happended Jan. 31 and my son is not getting any better. In fact he has a cyst growing in the
bone at the knee cap.
How would you feel if your son was invited to a party at a Dr.s home, that he has been to many times, and was stunned with an illegal 175,000 volt stun gun and have had hundreds of dollars in Medical bills. The Dr. Here has sent him to a specialist 150 miles from here.
Sorry I make you sick.

Ann,
Please read my previous post. You are missing the point, which seems to be a problem for you. If you want to sue them you will have to do it soon, obviously you have some evidence but whining here won't get it done. Your posts are inconsistant in your story, you will have to do better in court or with a lawsuit. Also your son has other problems besides this and difficulties in school, you can't blame everything on someone else. You have him in a charter school, he may have to work but he will get more attention.

Post

I was not pointing that at you. It was to the man who i made sick.
The whole story is very complicated and basically it starts out with
bullying. I have all the police reports. I could probably write a book. I have documentation. Thank you for your post and your are right the Charter School
is better. We did not even know it existed.
I hope that my son's knee will get better without surgery. The drs are watching him.
Again I was not saying anything against you.I am not the kind of person that would run to a lawyer. If I was I would have been in a lawyers office the next day before the dr. I just have not known what to do.
Thanks
Ann

Well now you know what to do, most likely their homeowners will pay for it.
