Trip & Fall in Restaurant

My wife and some friends were in a restaurant/bar in Arizona (they were not intoxicated). They were seated by a large flat panel TV on a stand that protruded into the walkway. There was a small 'cone' on the support, obviously there to try to point out the hazard. As she was leaving, she tripped on the stand and landed on her knee. Several people nearby (and in her group) commented that they had tripped on the stand as well. She didn't notify any of the staff, thinking it was just bruised and that she could walk it off. The next day we went to the hospital where x-rays determined her patella (knee cap) was broken and surgery would be required.

Should we just deal with this or is the establishment responsible?What is the name of your state?

Did any of these 'almost trips' notify the management of the hazard or was the management already aware of it??
What EXACTLY is the cost of her damages??
Both of those questions have to be answered before you can determine if they are liable and if it is enough to offset the time and emotions of bringing a lawsuit to trial (that is assuming you can find a personal injury attorney willing to take it on a contingent fee basis).
