What are the chances? What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Alabama What are the chances that a family suing a church over an accident involving glass doors will try to go after any and all individuals they think might be responsible either directly or indirectly? I was the Church's daycare director at the time and although I was maternity leave when the accident happened, they want me to come in for a deposition regarding the doors themselves and I'm concerned they might try to say that I was indirectly responsible for the accident because I never questioned the safety of the doors. My worst fear is that after their suit against the church is over, they'll try to go after individuals. Especially if they lose the suit. Am I just being paranoid, or could this be a real concern? |

| You are being paranoid. They can't sue you AFTER suing the church, it's at the same time or not at all. And the church's insurance covers you as long as you are acting within the scope of your duties. Besides, they have no reason to go after individuals, the employer will always have deeper pockets.

And people post here because they are thinking about suing. Because they want money, no matter how much they don't want to admit that to themselves. -Auto insurance adjuster for 2 years - as of 6/15/09, I am FREE! |
