When pre-professional students are seriously injured...

As far as considering "economic damages". For instance, what if a highly intelligent straight A student(upper 99.99% of his class) was following a pre-medical/pre-dental/etc. coursework who is a senior in his undergrad degree and is seriously disabled in a car accident to the extent he will not be able to work for the rest of their life? This happened at our campus recently and I'm wondering what the family is going to do.

Posted this on the car accident forum as well, but it sort of fits in both places. What is the name of your state?

Depends on a variety of factors including the person's age. Talking to a personal injury attorney would be the first thing that should happen. Without a crystal ball, there is no way to tell what will happen after that.

The injured party will receive whatever insurance benefits are available from auto insurance of the at-fault party, personal health insurance, and possibly from Social Security Disability and/or Supplemental Income (SSI). If the at-fault party has the means, additional compensation may be available from personal funds.

Unfortunately, at the time of the injury, life changed for this person and he or she no longer has a future of high income but has one of seriously challenging physical and financial needs.
