My original post was not read. Let's see if this reply works. I'm in California.

Hi guys, I'm here posting about an incident that happened in January of 2012. I was arrested by the police twice in the same day, both times with aggression. The story starts as I was standing outside a gas station smoking a cigarette. Apparently someone called the cops saying I looked suspicious. Ok. So a cop comes by and tries to detain me. I was not in my right mind (I was in a manic state, I'm bipolar) and resisted, telling him to let me go. What ensued was being tackled right then and there and being **hogtied** by the police. They then took me in on resisting arrest and a drug charge. I bailed out. Fifteen minutes after I bail myself out, last I can remember I was running towards my condo but for some reason in the middle of the street. So cops are called again. This time the outcome is much more rough. I was tackled (observe knee photo) and beaten by 4 different cops and tazed twice. Then they took me to the hospital, and then jail for assault on a police officer when I never punched any of them. (probably why it was dropped to a misdemeanor). If you guys would, have a look at the pics and tell me what you think. It was a very traumatizing experience. Thanks for any replies!

By your own admission, you were not in a fit mental state and have poor recollection of the incidents. How do you know you didn't hit them?

And If you were in a manic state and were being agressive, then perhaps the level they escaleted their response to was appropriate.

As aluded, even in sound mind you would be hard pressed to objectively analyze what the cops claim happened versus your opinion versus reality.
You are in severe need of real legal help, not the internet advice forums.

re:

I bumped into one of them, allegedly knocking one of their badges off. But I was getting beaten to a pulp when this happened and taxes, so I think that was really self defense.

I just want to know if its worth going on a tedious mission to find a probono lawyer or not.

This happened 18 months ago? And you're only just now getting around to asking if a bunch of strangers on the internet think an attorney would sue them for you, for free?

Tazed* can't seem to find the edit button for these posts..
It's entirely possible that you were being aggressively restrained, maybe even tased, because you were completely manic (as you have already said you were), and completely out of control. That doesn't mean that what the cops were doing was illegal or excessive in any way.

You need to realize that the cops are perfectly within their rights to escalate their actions to the level of physical force actually required to restrain a suspect. In your state, you sound like you would have been highly agitated by anyone who tried to stop you from doing what you wanted to. If that was the case, the cops actions were not only appropriate, but justified - even if you were injured in the process.

No, I don't think that trying to sue will do you any good. I think that your time and effort might be better spent on finding yourself a good doctor who can aggressively treat your bi-polar disease so that you don't end up a menace to society again when you allow yourself to get out of control by not taking your meds.

Thanks for the replies guys. It was just a thought. I for one felt their force was unnecessary so I thought I would see what you guys thought. But evidently its not, thanks for the advice
