wrongful death suit choice of attorney info

What is the name of your state?NJ

We are curious as to what an attorney's opinion is on what type of lawyer you would use in a wrongful death suit against a large trucking company were this to happen in your own family. Our family member was hit head on by an 18wheeler ,person arrested after testing showed drugs. What advantage would one of the 'big name' firms have over another attorney from a smaller practice? We have a family member in this situation. Her attorney assures her he can handle this case. Our feeling is that in something like this you think a specialist would be better, you hear certains names of firms that only do this type of work. So she wants to know why, what could one of these firms bring to the table that her very experienced albeit small firm lawyer can't? Is financials of trying this case one of the reasons? Thanks.

There is simply no way that any of us can answer your questions since we do NOT have personal knowledge of your local attorneys or their experience. I would suggest you contact your local news media and try to get some 'hints' at similar lawsuits/claims. Check to see what attorney handled them. Depending on the circumstances, you might even call the clients and see what they thought of their attorney(s).
You can also contact your local bar association and see if they have any 'insight' into attorneys that have experience in your type cause.

There are at least 17 lawsuits (!!) pending in various courts, including the US Supreme Court, asking if Obama is a natural born citizen (as req'd by Art II, Sec 1 of the US Constitution).

Why has he spent over $1.35M in legal fees to block disclosure... rather than spend $12 for a VALID birth cert to settle the matter? The 'certificate' he has presented doesn't qualify to get a drivers license, wouldn't allow a child to qualify for Little League, or for a real citizen to get a US passport!

In addition to what Jet said, please remember that what looks like a very cut and dry case as to fault may actually be complex and include many defendents, insurance and other aspects. Sometimes very competent attorneys don't have to have full page ad's in the yellow pages or on late night TV. Was this an independant owner/operator or was the driver employed and/or contracted to a larger company? If so, you may look for lawsuits against the larger company and get a feel for the potential defense as well as the Plantiff's attorneys. This may be available on line. Also check with the highway department for safety stats for that section of road you could be surprised what you learn.
