What is the name of your state? New York

I purchased my house 5 months ago. Over those 5 months my basement began to flood. Since this was a finished basement, and because the flooding was so bad, I to remove all of the carpeting through out the entire basement. During the carpet removal, we noticed that some of the drywall on the walls had water damage so we decided to remove that as well. Through removing the drywall throughout the basement, we found excessive amounts of mold growing on the walls, as well as the foundation crumbling which was the cause of the leak - in all actuality, you can see daylight through the walls of my basement.

The previous never disclosed the leak problem on the property disclosure. Is there any recourse against the previous owners? Should I contact a lawyer?

Isn't their a SLIGHT possibility that the previous owners would not have been aware of the mold problem IF the basement had never flooded while in their posession?
