Another property line dispute

Hello...

My family purchased about 80 acres of land in Iowa a little over a year ago. We bought the land from a couple who still owns an adjacent 40 acres. When we bought it, we had the property line between the land we bought and the land they kept surveyed. We have no problem with this couple. However, the survey showed that the boundary line between our land and a different neighbor was off. We attempted to survey the fence line that we knew was off, but because of the time of the year, it had to be postponed until this past winter, which was after we bought the land. The survey is now complete, and the fence needs to be fixed. Can we place the fence along the surveyed boundary line? Our neighbor is uncooperative and is threatening us. Is it against the law for him to remove the survey stakes? What should be our next step? Any information would be greatly appreciated.
